Hepatitis Day

July 28: Hepatitis Day

On July 28, 2025, World Hepatitis Day is a reminder of the importance of prevention and awareness of a disease that affects more than 354 million people worldwide. In the business environment, promoting the health and well-being of employees is an integral part of a modern and responsible strategy.

Hepatitis is a disease that, if not treated promptly, can lead to serious complications such as cirrhosis or liver cancer. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 1.1 million people die annually due to the disease, although most forms are treatable or preventable through vaccinations.

For businesses, workplace health promotion has multiple benefits. Awareness raising and prevention programmes, such as hepatitis B vaccinations or diagnostic tests, reduce the risk of spreading the disease. In addition, they boost employee confidence and reduce costs associated with absenteeism and reduced productivity.

Examples of successful initiatives include programs by companies such as Johnson & Johnson that integrate workplace health services, offering employees the opportunity for regular checkups and access to treatments. According to a study by Gallup (2024), companies that invest in employee well-being are recording 23% higher productivity and 21% lower staff departure.

World Hepatitis Day is a reminder that investing in health is not only a social responsibility, but also a strategy for the sustainability and success of any organization. By promoting a healthy lifestyle and facilitating access to health services in collaboration with business consultants, Cypriot businesses contribute to creating an environment where both employees and themselves thrive.
