4 February: World Cancer Day
4 February, World Cancer Day, is a reminder of the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and access to treatment. Cancer, the second leading cause of death worldwide, causes serious social and economic consequences. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020 there were about 10 million deaths from cancer, while the total cost for treatment and lost productivity exceeded $1.2 trillion.
Businesses have an important role to play in supporting workers’ and society’s health. Through information programmes to prevent and promote healthy habits, they can help reduce cancer risks. This can be achieved through the seminars offered by business consultants in Larnaca and throughout Cyprus. Also, providing access to medical screenings through workplace health programs is a practice that enhances employee well-being and reduces absenteeism.
World Cancer Day is also an opportunity for businesses to show their social responsibility. By sponsoring cancer treatment research projects or collaborating with non-governmental organizations, companies can make a substantial contribution to addressing this global challenge. Equally important is raising awareness through information actions or events that enhance public awareness.
Health is not only a moral obligation for businesses, but also a strategic investment. A healthy and supported workforce, which can be achieved through HR consulting services, leads to greater productivity, improved company image and enhanced customer trust. Companies that integrate health promotion into their strategy bring value not only to their employees but to society as a whole.
